Monarch Presents a Selection of Works by Russian Contemporary Artists

LIGHT FROM THE NORTHWEST WINDOW - A Group Exhibition by Russian Artists: SHELEG, PITRENKOV, KOROLENKOV, KAMU

Monarch | Arredon Contemporary Gallery proudly presents LIGHT FROM THE NORTHWEST WINDOW.  This group exhibition explores a generation of artists that grew-up and began their craft during the Soviet era and are now the first group of contemporary artists of post-soviet times.  Russian artists today are seeking ways to find a voice and come to terms with having beautiful dreams about democracy, dreams of what was promised to be a democratic free thinking and open era.

This group exhibition features 25 selected paintings varying in style and technique by four Russian artists. These contemporary artists are among today’s finest and most talked about artists on the Russian art scene today; KOROLENKOV, KAMU, PITRENKOW, SHELEG.

Victor Sheleg has an expressionist style using bold colors and brush strokes while Slava Korolenkov is more of an impressionist with soft color palettes. Jurij Pitrenkow is a combination of the two and the husband and wife team known as Kamu (Sergey and Olga) combine the style of médiéval era tapestry and old Russian icons. All to create a truly inspirational and moving collection of paintings.

The exhibition will be on view at Monarch | Arredon Contemporary starting August 29th through October 8th, 2016.  Contact the Gallery at:  info@monarchfineart.com or 858-454-1231 to be added to our invitation list for special events featuring this exhibition.   The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12p-6pm, and by appointment on Sundays and Mondays.
