Connecting/Disconnecting: The Impact of Social Media
With her latest body of work Åsa Kvissberg wants to provoke questions that inspire and invite thought rather than make definite statements. With the push and pull of social media starting to run our lives, are we becoming more connected to each other or are we in fact becoming disconnected? Is never leaving our phones out of sight and having them always available bringing us closer to our friends? Is trying to be perfect for our selfies and displaying our perfect lives on Facebook and Instagram making our lives fuller? Or is it just making it seem like we are living fuller lives?
Åsa Kvissberg lives and works in San Diego, California and in Stockholm, Sweden. Connecting/Disconnecting will be on view at Monarch | Arredon Contemporary from December 3rd, 2016 to January 15th, 2017.
